How League Scoring Works: Exact Score, Result, BTTS, and Over/Under

The most common question from anyone joining a prediction league for the first time is the simplest one: how do points actually get awarded? Here's the full breakdown.
The four things you're predicting per match
Every prediction is really four separate calls, each scored on its own:

Why it's structured this way
Exact score is worth the mostbecause it's the hardest thing to get right — you're not just picking a winner, you're picking the precise outcome.
Correct result is worth less but still meaningful. If you called a home win and predicted 2–0 but it finished 3–1, you still get credit for reading the game correctly even though the exact scoreline was off.
BTTS and over/under are smaller, independent points. They reward reading the shape of a match — open, high-scoring vs. tight, low-scoring — separately from the scoreline itself. A single prediction can score on multiple components at once: get the exact score right and you also, by definition, got the result, and often BTTS and over/under too, which is exactly why exact score maxes out the match.
What stays the same for everyone
Scoring components are fixed globally — league owners cannot customize them. That's deliberate: every league, whether it has ten friends or a thousand members, is scored on the same table. There's no "our league does points differently" confusion, and no way for an owner to tilt scoring toward a favorite.
When predictions lock
You can create or edit a prediction right up until five minutes before kickoff. After that it's locked — no changing your call once team news or last-minute odds shifts start influencing your gut feeling. This keeps the competition fair: everyone commits to a prediction on the same information, at the same time.
Why this matters for league standings
Because scoring is fixed and identical across every match and every league, the season table is a genuinely fair read on who's predicting best, not who joined an easier league or benefited from a friendlier owner's custom rules. Ten points is always the ceiling, on every match, for every player.
